Ko Shanon Marsters Ahau

Ko Te Whakatohea me Palmerston Airani te Iwi
Ko Mataatua me Avarau te waka
“Kia Ora – Kia Orana!”

Instrument/s: Drummer, BV’s (Backing Vocals)
Music Inspirations: Prince, Phil Collins, John Farnham, Bobby Caldwell, The Roots, Guru, Anderson Paak, Mayer Hawthorne, Parcels, Vulfpeck, Israel Houghton, Steve Jordan, Cory Henry, Tom Misch, and many more!
Musical Aspirations: To provide the “pocket”, heartbeat, and foundation required, for fellow band mates to build on to, fill up, and colour in. Shan only cares about doing what’s best for the band collectively, and the experience of the customer.

Background: Shan has 2 decades experience in the gospel music space. Gospel composition, live arrangements, and spontaneity are Shan’s main musical strengths. Shan was blessed to play extensively as a session musician 2013 – 2019, rubbing shoulders/sharing stages with some of Aotearoa’s most sought-after session musicians, travelling the motu, and being paid to do what he loves.  Shan has also been an endorsed worship artist for Australian drum cymbal brand “RED Cymbals” since 2020.

Nowadays, Shan is primarily focused on helping his local community through involvement with his church, and employment with a local health authority. Shan (and wife Rebecca) kids are now starting to engage in music, which is promising news for Shan, knowing that his (and Rebecca’s) love for music naturally lives on in their children.

Shan’s first ever paid gig was with Hinemoa in 2013, and Shan sees it as a great honor to be invited back in 2023. “It’s like this has gone full circle, and I’m very grateful for this opportunity to come around again.”
